Steps to take before the surgery
Diagnostic tests will be conducted to confirm, and later determine the length and severity of the stricture. Initial tests include measurement of urine discharge, testing chemical properties of urine (for traces of bacteria or blood), Cystoscopy, and measurement of the urethra. X-ray tests or ultrasounds are done to clinically evaluate the stricture.
What happens during the procedure?
During this procedure, the doctor will insert a cystoscope (a thin optical device) into the urethra. Some surgical instruments are inserted through the cystoscope into the urethra to removes the stricture or vaporise it with a laser.
After the procedure
You will be instructed by our doctor at Medanta on how to monitor for signs of infection and take proper care of the urinary drainage system. You may also be prescribed a few antibiotics, and might be asked to limit your physical activities.
