
Medanta Gurgaon Organizes two-day Medical Camp for IOCL Employees in Assam
Guwahati/Bongaigaon, August 23: Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, named Best Private Hospital in India by Newsweek for six years in a row, successfully organized a two-day Medical Camp for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) employees in Assam. The multi-speciality Medical Camp, set up in association with the Refinery Hospital in Guwahati and Bongaigaon, concluded on 23 August, 2025.
The event was set up at two different locations: The first, on 22 August, 2025, was held at the IOCL L & D Centre in Noonmati, Guwahati. The second location was the Refinery Hospital, Bongaigaon on 23 August 2025. On both occasions, senior doctors Dr. Pawan Rawal, Senior Director, Gastrosciences at Medanta – The Medicity and Dr. Sharad Tandon, Director, Cardiac Care at Medanta – The Medicity were present to provide expert medical care to an underserved population.
The two doctors, who held presentations for the attendees on health awareness, emphasized that preventive healthcare focuses on early detection of diseases, lifestyle modification, and timely medical intervention to reduce the risk of serious illnesses.
For gastrointestinal health, Dr. Rawal said, preventive care emphasizes balanced nutrition, safe food and water practices, regular screening for conditions such as ulcers, liver disorders, or colorectal cancer, and vaccination against hepatitis.
Speaking on the topic ‘Healthy Lifestyle and Eating Habits for a Healthy Body’, Dr. Pawan Rawal, Senior Director, Gastrosciences at Medanta – The Medicity Gurgaon, said, “Regular check-ups can identify potential issues before they become serious, and allow for timely intervention. This proactive approach also help manage chronic conditions, and encourage a healthier lifestyle.”
Dr. Tandon stated that preventive cardiac health revolves around managing risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and high cholesterol through healthy diet, physical activity, stress management, and regular check-ups. Together, he said, these measures not only lower the burden of disease but also promote long-term wellbeing and quality of life.
During a talk on the topic ‘Sudden Cardiac Arrest’, Dr. Sharad Tandon, Director, Cardiac Care at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon added, “The overall goal is to prevent the onset or progression of preventable diseases, while ensuring that underlying conditions which are present are kept in check.”
