Dr. Alok Thakar is an ENT, Skull Base and Head-Neck Oncosurgeon with over three decades of experience. He has previously served as Head of the National Cancer Institute, AIIMS New Delhi, and as Professor & Chairman, Department of ENT & Head-Neck Surgery at AIIMS.
A pioneer of Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) in India, he has led advances in laryngeal preservation, laser surgery, endoscopic skull base surgery, cochlear implantation and auditory brainstem implantation. Thakar has 400+ peer-reviewed publications, over 5,000 citations, two patents, and has delivered more than 25 national orations and 70+ international lectures. He also chairs national guidelines on mucormycosis and contributes to ICMR cancer protocols.
