Dr. Ajmer Singh is a distinguished Cardiac Anaesthesiologist with over 30 years of clinical expertise in high-risk cardiac procedures. A postgraduate in Anaesthesiology, he has been at the forefront of perioperative management for more than 13,000 complex cardiac surgeries. His vast experience spans off-pump CABGs, valve replacements, aortic dissections and aneurysms, cardiac transplants, vascular surgeries, neonatal and pediatric heart surgeries, and transcatheter interventions in hybrid operating rooms. He is also actively involved in intensive care management of post-cardiac surgery patients.
Dr. Singh played a pivotal role in Indiaβs early heart transplant journey as part of the anaesthesia team that conducted the first five successful heart transplants in the country during 1994β95. He has served at premier institutions including AIIMS, New Delhi and Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi, where he practiced for nearly two decades before joining Medanta in 2014.
An academician and thought leader, Dr. Singh has contributed over 100 research papers to peer-reviewed journals, authored several book chapters, and delivered numerous presentations at national and international forums. He has been conducting simulator-based, hands-on training in Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) for over a decade, training visiting fellows and postgraduate students.
He is a designated faculty under the National Board of Examinations and serves as a teacher and guide for DNB/DrNB students in Cardiac Anaesthesia. Dr. Singh is also on the editorial board of the Indian Anesthetists Forum and is a peer reviewer for leading journals including the Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, Journal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology (JOACP), and Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia (JCVA).
