Medanta Brings Cutting-Edge Liver-Care Services to Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan

Sri Ganganagar, 23 August 2025 – The Institute of Liver Transplant and Regenerative Medicine, among the world's largest and among the most successful Living Donor Liver Transplant Centres, announced a comprehensive initiative to expand liver-care services and transplant awareness in Rajasthan. Speaking at a press conference in Sri Ganganagar, Chairman, Institute of Liver Transplant and Regenerative Medicine, Dr A S Soin outlined recent medical advances, introduced a local outreach programme, and presented a patient who continues to thrive two years after a life-saving liver transplant (LTP).

Key Highlights:

1.       Cutting-edge progress in liver transplantation:

At Medanta 25+ transplants a month are performed with a success rate of 95%. The team has also performed 15000 complex Hepato-Biliary surgeries with a success rate of 99%. The Team has completed nearly 5000 liver transplants in India including over 500 transplants in children. It’s a dedicated multi-disciplinary Liver Transplant team of almost 500 members led by Padmashree Dr. A S Soin.

2.       Rajasthan-wide awareness drive

Dr Soin emphasised the urgent need for prevention & early diagnosis in a state where fatty-liver disease, alcohol-related cirrhosis and viral hepatitis remain prevalent.

“Thousands of Rajasthani citizens develop end-stage liver disease each year, yet only a fraction present in time for transplant,” he said. “Through local partnerships and education, we can change that statistic.”

3.       New Outreach OPD (OOPD) in Sri Ganganagar

To ensure earlier referrals and follow-up convenience, Senior Consultant Dr Ankur Atal Gupta has launched a dedicated Outreach Out-Patient Department (OOPD) at Sri Ganganagar every alternate month.

Venue: Shree Ambey Hospital, Sukhadia Nagar, Sri Ganganagar

Schedule: 4th Saturday of every alternate month

“Residents will no longer need to travel hundreds of kilometres for expert advice,” Dr Ankur Atal Gupta noted.

Our goal is to screen high-risk individuals early and streamline the transplant pathway.
