Advanced Radiation Therapy at Medanta to Give New Hope to Cancer Patients in Haryana

Rewari, 7 February 2026: When 52-year-old Sunita Devi from a Haryana village was diagnosed with cancer, her biggest fear was not just the disease, but the belief that treatment would mean long hospital stays, severe side effects, and loss of normal life. Today, thanks to advances in radiation therapy, that fear is increasingly outdated.

Specialists from Medanta– The Medicity, named the Best Private Hospital in India by Newsweek for six years in a row, brought this message of hope to Rewari, highlighting the role of modern advanced radiation therapy, not only in the treatment of almost all types of cancers but also to control many types of benign tumors, chronic debilitating diseases and functional disorders, making treatment safer, shorter, and more effective.

Speaking at a program organized by the IMA Rewari Chapter at Gymkhana Club, Dr. Susovan Banerjee, Director, Radiation Oncology at Medanta, stressed the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, and proactive cancer prevention and screening for a cancer-free and overall well-being. He said radiation therapy remains a key modality in cancer management, offering curative treatment while ensuring organ preservation and quality of life.

Haryana reports over 30,000 new cancer cases every year, with many patients reaching hospitals at an advanced stage due to lack of awareness and delayed diagnosis—especially in interior districts. Late detection often limits treatment options and impacts outcomes.

Speaking on the topic “Cancer – Roktham se Upchar Tak” (From Prevention to Treatment),  Dr. Susovan Banerjee, Director, Radiation Oncology at Medanta said, “At Medanta, we have advanced radiation treatment platforms such as Varian EDGE, Elekta System, CyberKnife, TomoTherapy, and integrated brachytherapy unit. These enable us to select the most appropriate high-precision radiation techniques—such as stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (IGABT)—to treat complex cancers with exceptional accuracy, improving disease control while minimizing treatment-related side effects.”

IMA, Rewari Chapter President Dr. Neeraj Yadav and senior medical practitioners from the region attended the program. Dr. Ananya Deori, Associate Consultant, Breast Cancer at Medanta highlighted the hospital’s commitment to cancer care awareness, noting that breast cancer accounts for one in four cancers among women globally, with India among the worst affected due to stigma, late detection and low awareness, while emphasizing that integrated, patient-centered care significantly improves long-term outcomes for women.
