Medanta Partners With IDAN, Govt of Nagaland, to Launch Booklet Promoting Better Health

Nagaland, 2 September 2025: Taking a significant step towards addressing health concerns in Nagaland, Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, which has been ranked India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six consecutive years, partnered with IDAN, Government of Nagaland, to create a booklet that addresses health-related queries of the state’s legislators and senior government officials as well as spreads awareness of key concerns that may impact their well-being as they selflessly pursue their service to the state.

The booklet, the brainchild of Shri Sharingain Longkumer, Honorable Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was created in association with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, and was launched in the beginning of September, 2025 by Shri Neiphiu Rio, Honorable Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland. The Speaker announced the handbook in the Assembly after its release, following which it was distributed among all 60 MLAs in the Assembly as well as to more than 150 high-ranking state government officials.

Mr. Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister & Chair, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland, said digital copies of the booklet will be made available to everyone to encourage awareness for healthier living.

Welcoming the launch of the booklet, Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, said, “We believe that quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege, underlined in Medanta’s ethos – ‘Har Ek Jaan Anmol’ (Every Life Is Precious). The greatest triumph in healthcare is not treatment—it is prevention. A healthy lifestyle —eating right, staying active, sleeping well, managing stress, yoga — can protect us from most illnesses that burden our nation today. For the people of the Nagaland, with your natural diet and active way of life, prevention and timely screening can help you stay ahead of disease and keep your communities healthy for generations to come.”

Stating that health “is indeed wealth”, Mr. Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister & Chair, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland, shared, “Thank you Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for launching the booklet “A Guide to Better Health”. Inspired by Hon’ble Speaker Mr. Sharingain Longkumer and conceptualized by the IDAN team in collaboration with the Medanta Group, this booklet underscores the priority our State Government places on the health and well-being of its citizens.”

The comprehensive health handbook is divided into two distinct sections. The first section presents a concise collection of health-related topics that readers can easily connect with in their day-to-day lives. Each topic highlights the key symptoms to watch out for, along with simple, practical guidance on what steps to take if such signs are noticed.

The second section of the booklet is more elaborate, offering in-depth write-ups on broader aspects of wellness and healthy living. This part is designed for readers who wish to go beyond the basics, providing them with a deeper understanding of preventive health, lifestyle choices, and holistic wellbeing.

The launch of the booklet -- which comes subsequent to Medanta signing an MoU with the Nagaland government for accreditation to the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) -- reinforces Medanta’s commitment to delivering comprehensive, world-class health care across India. Medanta also held a three-day Medical Camp in Kohima which concluded on June 27. Organized in partnership with IDAN, Government of Nagaland; Directorate of Industries and Commerce; and Nagaland Police, the multi-speciality Medical Camp saw more than 400 people turning up for a health check-up, including luminaries such as Mr. Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly; Mr. P. Tokugha Sema, Director of Industries and Commerce; and Mr. Rupin Sharma, DGP Nagaland Police.
