Steps to take before Lap Cholecystectomy
To prepare for the surgery our team of doctors may ask you:
What happens during Lap Cholecystectomy?
You will be given general anaesthesia for the procedure. A laparoscope (a thin tube) is inserted through one small incision below the belly button. The laparoscope is connected to a special camera through which the surgeon will get a clear vision of your gallbladder on screen. The surgery will be done through the other three incisions in your abdomen. The gallbladder will be removed through any one incision by dissecting it from the liver and the bile duct. After the gallbladder is removed, the surgeon closes the small incisions.
After Lap Cholecystectomy
Mostly, one can return to its normal schedule in 8-10 days after the surgery. You might feel a little sore for about a week but this discomfort will fade away in 2 to 3 weeks.
