Steps to take before the procedure
Our doctors at Medanta will prepare you thoroughly for the treatment. Discuss with your doctor the post-surgery care, medications, and other aspects of the treatment. Your doctor will perform a physical exam and will take a measurement of the wound.
What happens during the process?
In Surgical debridement, the surgeon uses surgical instruments to remove the injured tissues from the wound. The process involves washing of the wound with salt water solution and then carefully removing dead and infectious tissues, bit by bit. Surgeons often use topical anaesthesia to minimise the pain. It can take more than one sitting to remove all the infected tissues.
After the procedure
Keep the wound and dressings clean and dry. Ask your doctor about when you should shower, bath, or soak in water. Follow up with your doctor for the next seating of the treatment.
