It is a process in which the damaged hip joint is replaced with an artificial one. The team of experts at Medanta is widely known for the success achieved for the Hip Replacement surgery.
The process is a minimally invasive surgery performed on a joint. The diagnosis, and sometimes treatment of the damage caused is done with the use of an arthroscope - an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision.
The objective of this surgery is to stop the pain which occurs due to a spinal fracture, stabilisation of bone and to get back some or all of the lost height due to the compression fracture. At Medanta the surgery is performed under general or local anaesthesia.
In this surgery a prosthetic implant made of metal replaces the painful disc to maintain motion and give relief from pain to the patient. This surgery is being discussed more frequently and has become more popular as a treatment option nowadays.
Surgical expulsion of a spine tumour is shown for patients who may benefit by the tumour removal, either regarding expelling the disease or potentially diminishing any serious side effects related with the tumour.
Spinal infections are uncommon diseases that can include the spinal canal, the vertebral bones, intervertebral disc space, or contiguous delicate tissues. Discitis alludes to a contamination of the intervertebral disc in the spine. Osteomyelitis alludes to a contamination of the vertebral bones in the spine. Contamination might be brought on by microbes or parasitic living beings, infections, or can happen after a spinal process or surgery.
Medanta offers many numerous alternatives to spinal surgery. Some available treatments are bracing, medication, functional restoration and pain modalities which help in treating problems like cervical spondylosis, herniated lumbar disc, herniated cervical disc, spinal cord injury, spinal osteoarthritis, spinal tumour, spinal infection, spinal stenosis, lower back pain and kyphosis.
The open reduction and internal fixation process is used to realign the bone fracture into the normal position as before.
India’s first 3D printed artificial vertebrae at Medanta gave a new life to a 32-year-old Spinal Tuberculosis (TB) patient. The Complex Spinal Reconstruction was recently conducted by Spine surgeons that helped her walk once again. The team of surgeons led by Dr. V Anand Naik, Medanta Bone & Joint Institute, replaced the damaged vertebrae with a 3D printed titanium vertebrae – to bridge the gap between the first and fourth cervical vertebrae. This 10-hour long surgery is the first of its kind for reconstruction with 3D printed vertebrae in India and the anterior surgery approach, is probably third in the World, following similar surgeries that were conducted in China and Australia for different parts of spine. Dr. Naik and his team used an intricate computer software to plan every detail of the operation. The titanium cage was customised according to the patient’s original spine.
Medanta – The Medicity has successfully performed two cement-less Total Knee Replacement (TKR) with the help of Titanium Nitride (TiNi) implant. These are the only two such surgeries conducted in India. Dr. S.K.S Marya, Chairman, Medanta – Gurugram (Delhi NCR) planned and executed a unilateral and a bilateral knee replacement according to the patients conditions. The implant is designed to provide maximum mobility because of a special coating which encourages the bone to grow into the implant. The Bone and Joint team at Medanta carries out these fixations with great precision so as to ensure no actual bone loss. Our team provides a customised solution for you to help you get back to active lifestyle in your specific socio-cultural environment, while ensuring patient safety. Both these patients operated at Medanta are now able to walk and carry on with their daily routine with ease.

“Recently, I had a lifestyle issue and it was impacting my social life. I had pain in my left hip. When I looked up the Internet, I found Dr. Marya at Medanta, who is widely known for his expertise. I booked an appointment and after diagnosis found out that the left hip was showing arthritic changes. The best decision was to get a through a hip replacement surgery and 2 days after I was admitted, we were in the OT and Dr. Marya replaced the hip and the recovery was unusually quick. The physiotherapy team treated me really well and within 3 days I was able to walk properly. The hospital is built with imagination and is not simply a put together work. Thank you!”
